Quassy is without a doubt a great place to bring your kids to. Like other reviewers, I would agree that Quassy caters to the younger guests ages 5 - 12. Sure, there are rides that a teen/ adult can go on, but truth be told its really an amusement park for kids.
Our first visit for this 2017 season was Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Two adults, Two 11 yr olds and a 5 yr old. As always, the parking fee greeters were all smiles and friendly. The ticket booth attendant was nice and patient while we figured out how many adult wrist bands we needed so one of us would always be able to ride with the 5 yr old. The fact that all of the employees come across as being super nice is one thing we really like about Quassy.
One reason you will like Quassy is that it's footprint is considerably smaller than Six Flags and Lake Compounce. That means you and your little ones will do less walking between each ride. Point A to B is literally a couple of minutes from anywhere in the park.
I believe there were at least 10 rides for our 5 yr old to enjoy. I think that's a pretty darn good number! Just about all of them needed an adult to ride along. There were just about the same amount of rides for our 11 yr old too. Some reviewers commented that they thought that Quassy's prices were high. Think of it this way- if you go to your local carnival or summer fair you are going to pay the same amount for tickets you would at Quassy but for half the amount of rides. And if they do not offer an all you can ride option then you will definitely be paying more. In a four hour span our 5 yr old went on these rides again and again...and again! For $25 I don't think that's too bad of a deal. Plus, you get admission to the waterpark included for that price. And, there is NO CHARGE what-so-ever if you are only going to walk around with your family and not go on any rides. What other amusement park offers that?
Besides the rides, Quassy also offers a few games of skill, an arcade, and also paddle boats to rent by the 1/2 hour to go out on beautiful Lake Quassapaug.
The food choices at Quassy and the prices are typical of what you would find at an amusement park.
One friendly suggestion I would make would be to have some sort of transferable ride band just for parents to allow them to alternate taking turns riding with their children. This way both parents would not have to each pay $29 just to give the other parent a break from going on the rides with their child.
If you live in the surrounding Western CT area and have not been to Quassy, I highly recommend you go. If you are just passing through CT on I-84 ( 10 mins off highway) and you want to give the kids a break from the road for a couple/few hours this is the place to do just that.
Overall, Quassy is clean, safe, and offers a lot of fun. It is a great place to spend the day. And, because we have a 5 yr old, we will be able to enjoy Quassy for many more years to come!
